History of Chess

Chess has been around for countless centuries, throughout multiple cultures and historic moments. There are hundreds of variations and modifications around the game, ranging from the artwork of the game board pieces to ruling and playstyle of the game (Ancient Chess). A popular variation for example would be Shogi (seen in the picture below), which is common in Japan; containing the same objective to capture the opponent’s king, but every piece can promote itself, rather than only the pawns. The origin of the game itself varies amongst rumors and opinions, as there is confusion and subpar evidence towards its exact establishment, but many sources state that it probably originated in India by the Gupta Empire, around ~600 AD (Chess.com). The form of chess that was played in Europe was already being played in Persia about 1,350 years ago, when its land was conquered by Muslim armies in the mid 7th century. This game became very popular in the Muslim world, which was eventually carried out to North Africa, Europe, and Asia.click here for full article...

personal statement

Hello! My name is Marcus, and I’m not entirely sure what to say here. I made this awesome chess set in OpenSCAD, which was quite frustrating at first, but I eventually got the hang of it. It was a piece of cake in the end. You probably just skimmed through everything posted on my board because there’s lines and lines of annotated code, and you probably can’t understand any of it, but hey man, that’s alright. OpenSCAD is easy to learn once you catch on, but coding in general is like reading hieroglyphics with your first encounter, so I bared with you and wrote about what part of each code creates to the right of each page. If you were wondering, OpenSCAD is nothing like languages such as HTML or CSS. Sure, they may have similarities in structure, but OpenSCAD is made exclusively for 3D Modeling while HTML is a markup language, often used for webpages. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading through my project, and enjoy the rest of the Winter EXPO!! (There’s a lot of other projects out there that are more entertaining that mine!! So go!!)
