Cameras have been evolving for many years now. It started with a ‘camera obscura’ which is used to project an image onto a white screen. This invention was a key factor on the development of photography. In 1948, polaroid cameras started becoming more and more popular, this camera was able to produce the photos instantly. The first DSLR was later created by Kodak in 1991. There is a huge thought process that goes on in the photographer's mind. This can be used in so many ways, from being a source of expression to helping someone remain relaxed. The simple yet complex sport known as volleyball was created on February 9, 1895, in Holyoke Massachusetts. A YMCA physical education director designed the sport that was first known as Mintonette. This was later improved as ‘volleyball’, a combination of basketball, tennis, and handball. In 1984, the U.S. won their first medals at the Olympics in Los Angeles for this sport. This sport is very complex and takes a certain amount of skill to perform. I think sports can be a way to learn about an individual. Communication is a key role in this game and I believe that it has helped many individuals become more comfortable in their own skin. Volleyball techniques and games have continued to evolve to help improve the sport as a whole.Writing is a tool used by many as a form of expression.Writing is portable yet permanent, this is what I love about it, writing has been around for centuries yet each couple of years the form of writing is changed.

personal statement

As I was thinking about what I wanted these designs to represent, I decided to focus on the theme of ‘passions’. When you’re passionate about something, that simply means to have a desire or enthusiasm for a specific idea. Each item that I created is connected to the idea that each item helps build up layers of who I am. Therefore, I have also chosen to title my project

“Multidimensional Me.”

Last year, I have found myself getting more and more interested in photography due to its simplistic yet complex thought process. An object of a chair may seem simple and straight to the point, but every photographer has their own unique style. The lighting, angle, and composition all have a key role on the impact the image has on the viewers. One of the main reasons why I wanted to include this item is because I feel that I can come across as very simple but once you start to learn more about the individual that I am, you notice that I have a lot to contribute to this world. I think photography is a great source of expression and I am hoping for this small seed of a passion to continue growing and making fruit in my life.

Singing is not only a hobby but I feel that it’s also a talent. My mom always says that all I did was sing from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed. I have always struggled with voicing my opinion or my beliefs. I classify myself as being an introvert but through singing, I am able to be confident and literally sing my heart out. I think that my voice is special and that

it’s a huge part of who I am and what I stand for. Through my church, I have always participated in events in which I sang in front of a real crowd and although I get nervous each time I step on stage, I am able to pull through. Singing has helped me grow in ways such as being more confident, dedicated and showing my strength. During my junior year at FMHS I joined the newspaper elective. Although I started off not wanting to do it, overtime I became interested in journalism. Over the summer, I was able to attend a journalism program at NYU with other students and during this time, I got the chance to grow as a writer. I usually wrote to have an outlet when I was dealing with something hard or feeling down. Now, I have learned that writing can be used for so much more. I use my skills to help others, to encourage, to bring out the issues that are often hidden and I want to continue growing in this field and maybe one day I can use my writing to work.

I consider volleyball to be one of my favorite sports not only because I find it fun but because it’s a way for me to vent and keep calm. This might sound crazy but whenever I play volleyball I automatically feel way better. For some reason it makes me feel happy. I am not quite sure why but I think its because its a sport that has helped me grow in various ways. I have learned how to work as a team player yet I still know when to take initiative. I was a part of the volleyball team during my sophomore year at FMHS. Due to this experience, I was able to be acceptive of the person that I am. It showed me that everyone has their own set of abilities but if you want to grow or get better at something, you have the chance to do so. In conclusion, from this course I was able to learn not only about myself but about the skills and techniques necessary in order to create each item throughout my process. There are a lot of times in which you need to continue testing each design until you perfect it. Overall, this was an amazing opportunity to allow myself to learn a wide range of skills for 3d printing. This was a lot of fun and I hope to also grow with the skills I have learned about such as difference, rotation, translation, copies of an item, and scales.
