I chose animals with varying shapes and sizes, like a penguin, turtle, snake, and dog, and made those shapes the main focus of the pieces. To understand the shapes of these animals, however, we need to go back through each of the animal’s timeline to get an idea of why they look the way they do now.To start things off, one of the more uniquely shaped animals out of the four previously mentioned is the turtle. This can be said because of its most prominent feature; its shell. A turtle’s shell is its most important factor seeing as that it’s what keeps turtles safe from all sorts of predators. “Made from bone covered by hard plates called scutes, the shell makes it difficult for many predators, such as raccoons and otters, to get a bite of tasty turtle meat.
